Salary: $14 an hour and up

Basic Function

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) assists developmentally challenged residents in a residential home to live comfortably and harmoniously while enhancing their ability to live independently.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with activities of daily living
  • Works with goal plans for each resident and follows Individual Service Plans
  • Maintains a clean, safe and secure residential environment
  • Conducts a variety of recreational, social and leisure activities with residents
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors and follows all agency policies

Essential Functions

  • Monitors and documents the dispensation of all prescribed and over the counter medications in accordance with Medication Training and agency training
  • Provides direct care as necessary which may include lifting and transferring consumers
  • Observes all physical, emotional and behavioral concerns and takes appropriate action
